Howard W. Makofsky, PT, DHSc is currently an Associate Professor in the Physical Therapy Department at the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, NY, an Adjunct Professor at Touro College in Bay Shore, NY and New York City, and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Stony Brook in Stony Brook, NY.

Dr. Makofsky has over twenty-five years of clinical experience as a manual physical therapist including his tenure as chief therapist at the Southside Health Institute in Bay Shore, NY, where he also served as co-director of the TMJ and Headache Clinics in the 1990s.

Dr. Makofsky is the author of over twenty scientific papers in addition to being the author of the text, Spinal Manual Therapy, An Introduction to Soft tissue Mobilization, Spinal Manipulation, Therapeutic and Home Exercises, 2nd Edition, published by Slack, Inc.

Dr. Makofsky is the founder and president of Kaya's Kids, Inc., a 501(c)(3) public charity providing financial support to the Paradise Orphanage and School in Burkina Faso, West Africa.
